About the organization/mission: The Meals on Wheels concept first arrived in Yolo County more than 50 years ago, when the need for low-income, mobility-limited seniors to receive nourishing meals was identified by compassionate community members at St. John’s Church of Christ in Woodland. By 1975, demand had increased, and the nonprofit now known as Meals on Wheels Yolo County, Inc. took the lead to ensure the continuity of this important work. Not surprisingly, the service level has grown exponentially since those early days, and MOW Yolo now nourishes nearly 1,000 seniors countywide!
