This summer, Meals on Wheels Yolo County is focusing on the animal companions that help our seniors EAT: Eat, Age, and Thrive. No senior should have to choose between their own health and their pet’s survival.

MOW PAWS: Meals on Wheels - Pets and Well Seniors, is presented by Cat Tales Feline Health Center in Davis. Launched in early 2025, the program supports seniors enrolled in MOW Yolo's Home-Delivered Meals program with free pet food and supplies, and emerging opportunities for free and/or discounted pet wellness checks, as well as engagement with pets in the community. Currently, MOW PAWS is available in Davis, West Sacramento, Winters, and Woodland.
Seniors depend upon their pets to alleviate loneliness, and so many would nourish their pets ahead of themselves if pressed to choose. In addition to MOW PAWS' focus upon nourishing pets and the MOW Yolo meal recipients who love and care for them, local seniors soon will be invited to senior hours at Cat Tales' "Tabby Tea Cat Lounge" in Davis, connecting seniors with cats and with one another for meaningful social interaction.
In addition to the generous support of Cat Tales and Meals on Wheels America, MOW Yolo is grateful for an ongoing partnership with Yolo Food Bank, which makes it possible to access pet food for MOW PAWS' at a tremendous discount.
MOW Yolo doesn't pause and MOW PAWS won't either, ensuring that seniors thrive with pets at their sides!
