OUR STRATEGIC PLAN
Click HERE to view our three-year plan, originally adopted by the Board of Directors in April 2023 and revised in October 2024.
This plan is inspired by the MOW Yolo "Operation Accelerate" initiative to:
- Nourish more seniors with more meals
- Nourish more nutritiously, preparing meals with more fresh and local foods
- Nourish more equitably, inclusive of Yolo County's cities and rural communities, with sensitivity for diverse cultural approaches to senior nutrition and socialization.
HISTORY
Meals on Wheels Yolo County (MOW Yolo) has served local seniors in need of nutritional support since the 1970s, first as part of a St. John’s United Church of Christ program in Woodland, and later as a more robust nonprofit gradually serving more of the county.
Today, MOW Yolo's strategic goal is to nourish as many as 1,300 food insecure, isolated seniors countywide by summer 2024. This will represent more than 300% program growth since 2022. The organization is the only provider in Yolo County of dependable, freshly prepared, ready-to-eat meals for seniors. No social services provider other than MOW Yolo fully meets the needs of local seniors who are unable to travel to a grocery store or other food access location, and/or are physically unable to prepare their own food and do not have family or a caregiver to assist.
While MOW Yolo enjoys impactful partnerships with the Agency on Aging Area 4, Yolo County, and other public sources of support, it's always been true that the success of our program rests with the investments of time and treasure offered by generous private individuals, businesses, and corporate benefactors in our community. Each time they step forward, they become a part of our history and our future. We invite YOU to become a part of this living history, too, as MOW Yolo accelerates to nourish more Yolo County seniors, more nutritiously, and more equitably.
